FMEA/FMECA & Electrical Derating Analysis for Defense System Reliability

A defense technology company needed to assess and reduce the risk of failures in a mission critical system. Relteck conducted a full FMEA/FMECA analysis to identify and prioritize potential failure modes, along with electrical derating stress analysis to evaluate thermal and voltage limits. We pinpointed high-risk areas, recommended design improvements, and optimized safety margins. As a result, critical failure risks were reduced, system reliability improved, and compliance with defense standards was strengthened.

Objective:

Improve system reliability and minimize high-risk failure modes in mission-critical environments.

The Challenge:

The client needed to evaluate the risk of component-level failures in a sensitive application, where design margins, failure modes and causes had to be clearly understood before production.

Relteck’s Solution:

  • Conducted a full FMEA/FMECA Analysis with Risk Priority Numbers (RPN), Failure Modes and Items Criticality Number .
  • Applied Electrical derating Stress analysis for thermal and electrical limits
  • Mapped out high-risk zones within the electrical design
  • Provided reliability redesign and improvemnet recommendations

Results:

  • Reduced RPN & Failurre Modes Criticallity Number values across 3 major subsystems
  • Helped optimize power and voltage margin tolerances
  • Improved compliance with defense reliability protocols
  • Increased system safety and predictability
